O projecto Convocatórias pretende criar interferências a partir da dinâmica gerada pelo Festival Internacional de Marionetas do Porto e pelas suas apresentações, propondo tanto momentos de pausa e suspensão, como momentos de intervenção e acção relacionados com o evento, o local e os seus públicos. O projecto irá ser configurado a partir de uma residência aberta, assegurando uma presença contínua durante todo o festival, alternando momentos de observação com intervenções esporádicas e oportunamente convocadas, de forma a atingir diferentes fluxos de potenciais espectadores/participantes. As formas de intervenção serão preparadas de acordo com a especificidade de cada encontro, podendo variar em termos de suporte, permitindo o recurso à performance, à locução, ao jogo, à escrita ou às mais diversas formas de construção. Convocatórias comportar-se-á como uma espécie de programa paralelo acoplado ao programa principal, por vezes parasitando-o, por vezes criando acontecimentos tangenciais.

Art TLV launches the first citywide international contemporary art exhibition as Tel Aviv approaches its 100th Anniversary. The project, curated by Andrew Renton (Director of Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London) brings together international and Israeli artists and curators with Tel Aviv's bourgeoning contemporary art scene, Bauhaus architecture, and cosmopolitan culture. The projects are on view from September 27 - October 18, 2008; VIP preview from September 24 - September 26, 2008.

Carla Cruz will undertake a series of actions in Bristol city centre from Tuesday 22 July to Saturday 26 July. These will take place at 1pm each day at five different locations, please see below, or click an icon on the map, for dates and locations.

In a work that comments on the nature of surveillance and its affect on social interaction and behaviour "Toxin du Jour" will see the artist embark on a dialogue with the 'talking' CCTV cameras that are currently on trial in the city.

Featured in this show is interactive video and new media artist Ricardo Carvalho. His project Lacuna is an exploration on various possibilities of interactive video performance, enabling the viewer to manipulate a sequence of events that illustrate the process of creation and evolution. Ricardo's research interests developed through a concept described in his BA dissertation as 'Organicity': an 'inter-body' responsible for materializing the encounter of two subjects. This inter-body hosts key strategies to express his concerns regarding the geographical place of identity, the evolution of Man, as well as the bridges between the brain and thought and how we can represent these connections visually.

The overcoming of biological conditions makes the human responsible for his own evolution, detaching himself from the rest of nature in the most peculiar way. Lacuna questions this redefining relationship as it requires a divorce from psychological attachments to our body image, which originates at the 'mirror stage' according to Lacan. In the project Ricardo uses a reflective screen / mirror to act as a rupture in space in which a narrative unfolds, in the same way that Duchamp uses the Infra-Thin concept on space in The Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors, Even.

Pela sua natureza, a performance desafia qualquer tentativa de definição precisa, para além da simples declaração de que é arte viva feita por artistas. Qualquer definição restrita negaria imediatamente a possibilidade da performance em si mesma, porque ela se move livremente em várias disciplinas e meios – literatura, poesia, teatro, música, dança, arquitectura, pintura, vídeo etc. – usando-os em qualquer combinação.
A história da performance é a história de um médium permissivo, de final aberto, com infinitas variantes, executado por artistas impacientes com as limitações das formas de arte mais tradicionais e determinados a levar a sua arte directamente ao público.

Nesta segunda sessão fechamos os exemplos das vanguardas do início do século XX e, simultaneamente, abrimos perspectivas para a segunda metade do século. São criadores privilegiados neste caminho Oskar Schlemmer e Merce Cunningham.
