Sinopse 

Desmitificar a tecnologia… desmontar, desconstruir para criar novas ferramentas. Este workshop pretende abranger um conjunto de àreas vitais para o desenvolvimento de ferramentas para manipulação de media visual em tempo- real. Serão focados aspectos importantes do design centrado no utilizador, performance, realtime media processing e práticas DIY - "Do It Yourself" numa perspectiva de interacção visual.

O objectivo do workshop é validar os utilizadores na análise das suas actividades com media visuais e sensibilizá-los para a construção das suas próprias ferramentas hardware e software, desmistificando a tecnologia comercial, perdendo o medo de explorar o hardware.
Pretende-se dar uma noção vasta das possibilidades da manipulação e interacção com video em tempo real para a construção de interfaces físicos/tangíveis ou virtuais seja na criação de ferramentas para VJ’ing, manipulacao de media para espectáculos,performances e instalações interactivas.
Os participantes são convidados a trazer controladores midi e abri-los para alterá-los ou utilizarem a plataforma Arduino tendo em vista os objectivos propostos pela sua análise da actividade/ performance ou objectivo da interacção.

Sobre o formador

Rui Pereira (rux) e' um designer de interacção, investigador, hacker. O seu trabalho e' extremamente influenciado pela natureza do media e do erro, percepção inter-sensorial e media performance. Descontente com os interfaces normalmente usados começou a desenvolver as suas próprias ferramentas hardware e software para live-visuals. Loop-r (2003) e looop-r (2007) sao dois protótipos fruto da investigação iniciada em 2003 e reconhecida em diversas conferencias de interacção humano-computador e festivais (FILE 2006 - (Sao Paulo), NIME 2007 (US), VBRooklyn (NY), Interactivos? (Mexico) e ACE 2008 (Japão). A sua paixão por interfaces, expressividade dos media, mas também, a incapacidade para criar musica levaram-no a criar interfaces para pessoas que nao sabem assobiar; para aqueles que não sabem tocar um instrumento mas querem ser superStars (TuIST); híbridos mecânicos entre caixas de ritmo e bicicletas, robots que comunicam através de video-clips (IEM) e parasitas feitos de código que se alimentam de pele humana.

Live visual performer (VJ) desde 2000, já participou em vários festivais e eventos internacionais sob diversos nomes(rapaz-pixel, low-res, visual_basiq. e Splaf7) e partilhou palcos com King Britt, Matthew Dear, Onra, Andy C e muitos outros.
Rui Pereira é Mestre em Interactive Telecommunications Program pela NYU-Tisch School of the Arts e continua a gostar de brincar com tecnologia, pessoas e emoções.

InShadow – Festival Internacional de Vídeo, Performance e Tecnologias é um festival dinâmico e envolvente, que destaca a importância da interdisciplinaridade na criação contemporânea.

InShadow configura um território particularmente híbrido entre linguagens, géneros, métodos, formas e conteúdos essencialmente cine-coreográficos que aplicam as novas tecnologias nas suas feições criativas. O corpo e o movimento destacam-se com a imagem nos espectáculos, performances, criações audiovisuais, instalações e exposições.

O Festival promove a investigação, aquisição e troca de conhecimentos e debate de ideias através de  workshops e masterclasses  e abre espaço à partilha de experiências com os criadores.

A convocatória para a 3ª edição do InShadow está aberta à recepção de vídeos nos géneros vídeo-dança, vídeo-performance, vídeo-experimental, vídeo-arte e documentário de criação,  bem como de  performances que reflictam a relação do corpo com as tecnologias.

With “men only” (October 2010) BBB Johannes Deimling has started a series of performance art events with a special focus on Performance art practices. The next performance art afternoon with the title "FROM ME TO YOU" will focus on a specific idea of cooperation.
8 young international artists are invited to write a performance for one of the other artists. The audience will see 8 performances performed not by the author of the piece. The artists have been in contact with each other to find ideas for the concept. It’s not about to show an individual piece, it’s more about to draw attention and respect to the work, the person and to understand the process of creation in a different way.
Each performance will not be any longer than 10 minutes. During the breaks we will serve coffee, tea and cake.

Call for Performance-Projects for the International Performance Festival
in Mainz (Germany)

This year it will be the third time that the International Performance Festival of the performance art depot invites artists from around the world to perform in Mainz, Germany.

This year the festival will be from the 5th to the 8th of May and takes place in the performance art depot, a three-years-young space for contemporary theatre, dance, performance and other forms of contemporary arts. pad offers an unlimited and visible platform for introducing experimental, innovative art works in Mainz. The kernel of the festival is on interactive performance, including light, sound, video art, digital art, multi media and body performance. The forms of performance can range from stage-based piece, solo to durational performance.

The production should be easy to travel, should not include more than about two or three people and should live with simple technical standards (basic light and a sound system with microphones and all standard equipment).

pad will pay a small travel- and performance-fee and will take care of your accommodation and food. You should be willing to travel via cheap travel-opportunities.

Please send DVD or online-video-documentation. Without any kind of motion picture documentation we cannot invite your performance. Deadline March 22.

Liberate Tate: Alternative Tate Audio Tour
Invitation to collaborate on a sound artwork in response to BP’s sponsorship of Tate.

This is a call for proposals for a sound artwork to act as an alternative audio tour/guide for the Tate. We want to install a new acoustic territory inside the Tate, to create a sound artwork that can occupy the Tate space yet exist within a much broader conceptual landscape.

The final artwork will be available online for visitors to download onto MP3 players in advance of their visit to the Tate. ‘Alternative Tate’ will be exhibited in late June 2011.

We welcome expressions of interest from artists working with sound: from Turner Prize winners, to guerilla mash-up DJs, from people writing radio plays, to sound engineers, from field recording specialists to musicians. Although we are framing this as an audio tour, we do not want to restrict the structure of the artwork to a linear, guided narrative – artists are free to interpret the frame of the tour as they see fit.

Liberate Tate has a history of challenging the corporate presence of large oil companies inside cultural institutions, a presence that we feel compromises culture and expression.

We can offer a fee of £1000 and a budget of £1000 to the sound artist/collectives selected, but no production facilities.

The deadline for submissions is April 11th 2011.
